Journal52: Week 1

The first page is complete!  Up Up & Away was the prompt and the first thing that came to mind was that song... "up up and away, in my beautiful balloon..."  I was, NO!  Seriously that's not what I envisioned with this prompt.  But it kept sneaking in my head..I'd find myself humming it!  So I went back to building my base.  Which I screwed up... my scrappy friends & I use the phrase "Step away from the Stickles".  It applies to all wet mediums but I can never leave a project alone to allow drying.  Next thing I know, I have wet gooey tissue stuck to my arm, the paper tore, it was a mess.

So another sheet, lots of Distress Inks & Stains later.. (I did salvage some of the wet tissue paper) and I was soon back on track.  Then I found my groove... and I'm very happy.

Up Up & Away kept tickling the back of my brain, combined with my stamped balloon... then a snatch of poetry... Les Balloons by Oscar Wilde.  It's very interesting so I pulled out my poetry book and re-explored it.

Against these turbid turquoise skies
The light and luminous balloons
Dip and drift like satin moons,
Drift like silken butterflies;

Reel with every windy gust,
Rise and reel like dancing girls,
Float like strange transparent pearls,
Fall and float like silver dust.

Now to the low leaves they cling,
Each with coy fantastic pose,
Each a petal of a rose
Straining at a gossamer string.

Then to the tall trees they climb,
Like thin globes of amethyst,
Wandering opals keeping tryst
With the rubies of the lime.

I only used the first two paragraphs... but perhaps I'll incorporate the next two in another journal page.  So there it is, Week 1.  Only 50 left to go!! :D  Thanks for stopping by!

It is fabulous! Love the design, colors and the poem. But if it's Journal 52 and you've done 1 page, don't we have 51 left to go? Just wondering. LOL
