Recipe's for Resolutions

Here we are into the second week of the New Year.  I've noticed many of my fellow bloggers, DT members, Facebook friends and friends & family are making AND working on their New Year Resolutions.  One of my little ones is to start and FINISH projects.  I was working on a DT assignment but I had some "down" time. (That's my code for watching paint or glue dry) so I started fiddling with an idea that's been blooming in my head.

I know I was inspired by something I saw surfin' the great wide net.  Probably in Pinterest but I swear I don't remember where.  But someone had upcycled a photo display frame.  On of those that flip and display multiple photos, you share them with grandma...   This person turned their frame into a recipe holder.  I LOVED the idea, because while I love my recipe box, the cards become dirty with my cooking chaos and sometimes don't make it back into the box in a timely manner.  Also, I have some hand written recipes from dearly loved ones, some who aren't with us any more and I'd like to protect those cards.  This upcycling idea was perfect!!
It's also a wonderful way to use up scraps and little tidbits you have.  It's also another great way to test new techniques or perfect old ones.  I found one of these flip frames in a clearance aisle while out shopping over the break.  I took some scraps of MME Lost and Found Two and used my Glue n Seal to cover the wood "cover".  Once it was dry, I sanded and inked the edges with Walnut Distress Ink pad.  After digging around I found this little Chef fella and Glue and Sealed him to a piece of scrap Grunge board.  Once he was dry, I fussy cut him out, inked and distressed all the edges with some more Walnut Ink.  I dug out two laser chippies of tea pots.  One I covered in scrap paper (MME probably) and the other I covered with Fired Brick Distress Stain.  After they dried, more walnut ink and some Distress Stickles on one, Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist on the other.  LOVED these results!!
I dug around some more, found some red checkered pp by MME and used my Tim Holtz die to create a "menu board", the inner square I painted out with black gesso and popped on some letters by TH and slapped the entire thing together!  WOW I love this!!!  I want to make more, I think my MIL would love one of these!
Now, today is Wet Wow Wednesday!  Every Wednesday, visit my friends blog HERE, and go hop to the other blogs linked.  You'll find wonderful inspiring creations, cards, layouts and etc.  Be sure to comment, then go BACK to Cat's Creations Scrapbooks blog and comment there.  You'll be automatically entered into a random drawing for some Blog Candy.  (That's FREE scrappy goodness!!)
Need some fabulous supplies like MME, Tim Holtz, Authentique, Stickles, Glue n Seal,etc... GO visit Cat and her crew in Mineral Wells.  Her store rocks and is where 90% of the supplies used in my project were purchased.
