Getting My Christmas On....

It's December and I don't feel prepared!  There use to be a time and day when I'd have all my cards signed, addressed and ready for the postal service the day AFTER Thanksgiving... but these days, I'm lucky to get them out before Christmas Eve.  I thought as the kids got older, these tasks got easier.  But instead our schedules are filled with Christmas Programs, Craft Fairs, Santa Visits and we become a whirling dervish of activities.

So, I've missed Wow Wednesday and yet another reveal over at CSI.  I fear I'll miss more reveals at CSI until I get these cards done.  Do I wish I could sit in my studio and churn out projects on a daily basis? Yeah, sort of.  But in all honesty, I enjoy running around with my kids.  It's life, it's living and before I know it, they'll be grown and gone.  And if I was sitting in my studio everyday, chained to my craft... well then it's not a joy any more.  I need these distractions, there is inspiration and creativity in chaos.

So allow me to quickly share what I'm creating... I have my Magnolia Stamp (It's this adorable Swedish line and I love them) her name is Tilda and I'm stamping loads of images.  (Yes, I could scan and print but that's cheating or maybe not) And I'm water coloring Miss Tilda with my Faber- Castell water color pencils, Tim Holtz Distress Markers,  and CI Twinkling H2O's.  After I'll fussy cut her out and then assemble her with panels of papers cut from Authentic's Peaceful Collection along with any other Christmas scraps I have lying about.  I'll probably also use some texture fades by Tim Holtz, I think the poinsettia ones will be lovely.

With the exception of my stamp, my supplies are from Cat's. Speaking of Cat, if you haven't been checking out her "Wow Wednesdays", I strongly recommend that you do. Each week patrons, friends and followers of Cat's post and link their weekly creations to her blog. All who visit each blog and comment and then returns to Cat's blog and comments are entered to win some Blog Candy. (Folks that's FREE stuff) Over at CSI, we refer to comments as "Leave some Luv". It's that simple, you don't have to like us on FB, follow our blogs, pin us on pinterest.. just leave some love.

That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed. Thank you for stopping by and MERRY CHRISTMAS

Shaunery, your coloring on these is great! That sounds like a lot of steps / work for your Christmas cards. How many are you making? I make around 70 cards each year, so I take a much simpler approach to my cardmaking! Therefore, mine were done before Thanksgiving. If I colored each and every image on mine, it would take me much longer - in fact, I'd be lucky to have them out by the new year! Be sure to post your completed card, too, so that we can oooh and ahhh over it. :-)

@ Allison, I'm kinda stupid when it comes to Christmas cards. I typically make between 50 - 120 each year. We are a retired Navy family so our "family" is everywhere! I love the details and so I'll be sitting up late doing a LOT of coloring this year. (psst don't tell but it's kinda therapeutic!)

Ohhh I want to see your completed card. I would say that once your kids are grown and gone out on their own you'll have more time for crafting like me. Ha, ha. But really you'll always have a life and other things that need to be done and that's good. I do not go and craft in my craft room every day (almost every day but not EVERY day.) :) I do have all weekend marathons in there though and yes, my kids are all grown. But I still like to live life and do other things so keep doing that and craft when you can. And I saw your comment to my comment on Valerie's blog. I'm serious. I much prefer to have just one album per year. I've learned that I don't have to put every photo in an album to tell my life's stories but obviously I've still got way too many photo albums as I'm running out of places to put them. My daughter's favorite album is my school album where all 12 years are in one book...the condensed version. It tells it all. It helped that we didn't have many photos from back then. :) Love your cute Tilda!

What a tease! I want to see the finished product too! This is an adorable image! I love your blog today. It made me think of all the Hallmark Christmas movies I've been watching! You are right to spend the time you can with your kids. Crafting will always be there...them not so much. It passes way too quickly.
