Happy Halloween
Everyone!
I wanted to get an early jump on my WOW Wednesday blog hop over at Cat's . Every Wednesday folks have the opportunity to link their latest and greatest creations via their blogs and galleries on Cat's blog. Everyone is encouraged to "hop", view and share the love and then come back and comment on Cat's blog. Everyone who leaves a comment on the blogs and at CAT's blog is entered in a chance to win BLOG CANDY... Or should I say a TREAT!
This last Saturday, I attended Nanci's Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas class. I had so much fun! And Nanci is a most excellent instructor! This was the first of three classes and we created four tags... here are three of my four (the fourth is still under construction)
This class basically started us out at ground zero with inking. Nanci showed us how to build and layer color. Sounds simple? Well it can be but it also takes a certain touch! Too light a hand and you can't see the color, too heavy you end up with flat color. No depth, no shadows... So everyone got their feet wet and played. My first card is very simple. Three colors of ink, an embossing folder and I used a "deboss" technique that I lifted from Tammy Tutterow. (she's like the female counterpart to Tim Holtz)
The second tag, we again layered inks to create depth. We also played more with stamping images and embossing folders, playing with direct ink techniques and playing with our Liquid Perfect Pearls, Stickles, glitters and stash! Marilyn bought the last of the cool silver glitter so I snatched up some Flower Soft in silver! HA or should I say HO!?
Class 2 is this Saturday out at Cat's. If you like tags, want to learn some fun simple techniques, hang with some awesome women... call her NOW (okay call during normal business hours) and reserve your spot NOW. She was completely full last week! My seat's reserved and I'd love seeing you there!
So what do you after you take a tag class, surfed pinterest and find LOADS of awesome Tim Holtz inspired tags, viewed your favorite blogs and watched the tutorials? MAKE a tag of course!! And that's how my Halloween inspired tag was created.
Again, Tammy Tutterow inspired this creation using Tim Holtz tissue paper. I don't think there's any Halloween inspired tissue paper, but I had the Halloween tissue tapes on hand. So... if it worked for one, why not the other right? I used three different tissue tapes, my Ranger Glue & Seal, pushing and crinkling the tissue about until I was happy. Then I allowed it to dry.
Once dry I trimmed my tissue tape and inked using Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive, Vintage Photo and Seedless Perserves. I built up my colors until I was happy. Then I stamped my skull from Apothecary CMS138 Stampers Anonymous set and inked and distressed him until I was happy. I fussy cut him out and edged him with more inks.
I added another stamped image from another old set.. highlighted with clear embossing powder and applied to the tag. After some spritzing with my Tattered Angels and Perfect Pearls. I then stamped more images from the Stamper Anonymous set, layering images, inks and spritz, this time using left over bits of Grunge paper, which gives the inks a whole different dimension!
Then some bling, a few flowers and a little ribbon! Poof finished tag!
Cool huh? Wanna learn how?? CALL CAT!!
If you're not local, use the internet, watch tutorials.. or better yet. Break out the inks, grab some manilla tags and PLAY. Get dirty and have fun. You'll love it, I promise! :D

Your tags are fabulous! I really like how you took us step by step through your Halloween tag - it turned out great. What do you do with your tags once you've made them? I have no idea what to do with them, so I don't make them - LOL
