Today was the first day of school. So many firsts!!! We were all so focused on getting ready, packing backpacks and such, I forgot to take first day pictures! Crap.
Taylor started his freshman year. He has a pretty full schedule, but got the classes he wanted. Choir and Art. Already choir is gearing up for competition and concerts in October. This years musical performance will be..."The Sound of Music". Taylor also is riding the bus this year. He's not too excited about it, but it helps in the morning with Sarah. Alot of her Dr. appointments will be early and knowing all the kids are off to school, I can be heading into town with peace of mind. We're trying the bus in the afternoon, but it drops him off so late (4:45pm) that we may quickly change our minds, we'll see if it's any better next week.
Erin is a big fourth grader. She's pretty happy with her teacher and fellow classmates. She was more excited that she gets to decorate the inside of her locker. ??!!! Guess we'll have to get some magnets and Jonas Brother posters....
Sarah is an official first grader. We are currently in a trial mode. She is going to regular first grade class in the morning and then switches over to her behavior intervention class in the afternoon. I was very apprehensive about this, figuring she'd fall apart, be uncooperative and ugly. She proved me wrong today! While over in "bic" today she was evaluated, Sarah is currently functioning at mid-second grade reading level and near mid-second grade math level. Ummm whoa. So, now I'm worried about keeping Sarah's interest in first grade! Sarah is also going thru another medication transistion, the last one started affecting her behavior again. Weee. On a positive note, we FINALLY found a shrink who accepts Tri-Care, we see him on the 19th. Hopefully, I can understand him and he won't be so quick with the Rx Pad. Then another follow up on the 30th with Dr. McGlothlin to evaluate her seizures (or lack of), meds and the like.
Maybe tomorrow morning...I'll get those "first day" pictures. They won't know in 15 years will they??? :)
