Saturday...

We've made it thru the first week of school. Taylor is slowly getting settled and we're trying to get him placed correctly. This TAKS test really messes with out of state children. But he's making friends and already has a new nickname... Frodo. He's the smallest boy in his P.E. class. He's 13, 99 lbs, 4'9" and he's the smallest boy. (Yep, things are certainly bigger in Texas!) On Friday, he's already had two quizes, one in Health and one in American History. He left both classes with that good sense of "I kicked butt!"
Erin is enjoying the third grade. This class is filled with "new" children for her. I don't think she's ever been in the same room with any of these kids. She's set a goal for herself to make honor roll and is taking pride in her work. Mrs. Ruyle has been sending home a book a night to be covered. Those stupid paper book covers nearly had me whipped. (I scrap, make cards and can't fold paper!)
Sarah's first few days were a little bumpy but since Wednesday, she's sailing. She's already blown her teacher away. Day one was given a book with the ABC's for "homework". Sarah, of course, refuses to sit down with this book and instead gets her Dr. Seuss. In class, again they sit down with the same book, Sarah flatly refuses, finds another book and starts reading it. No, Sarah isn't memorizing words, she's READING. Sarah is loving having lunch at school and seeing her friends. Tuesday Sarah road the bus for the very first time to school and LOVES it. Life is complete for Sarah.
So today is Saturday and I'm trying to motivate myself to go mow the lawn. Laundry is rolling in the dryer and the kids..hmm I couldn't tell you what the kids are doing. Okay, Sarah is playing with tape, but the other two...we'll be doing what most families do on weekends, laundry, cleaning, mowing, about noon I expect the "I'm bored" to kick in. It's a three day weekend, gonna have to find something to do or SISD might be short three children Tuesday morning...

I just read about Sarah. Sounds like a crazy day. Hopefully you are on the right track. Our best to you and your family. God works is the most mysterious ways we can't explain. Take care!
