It Was the Best of Days...

I know, I'm suppose to be all choked up over my children going to school. Yeah, okay. August 27th, Monday was a good day.. Erin opted to ride the bus, Taylor hitched a ride from Lexie's mom (Lexie is our next door neighbor and in 8th grade) and Sarah & I drove in together. Streets were conjested, parking a nightmare, drop zones a mess, typical first day in Springtown. No guidelines, rules or true procedures.... but my three got to school just fine!
Pick up, now that was a different story... SES went smoothly, I arrived early to wait in line, had her in the van by 3:03, headed over to Watson..drove around the block trying to find the end of Sarah's pick up line, cars are parked in the street blocking traffic (no one was in it!), other cars are pulling into an already congested street and begin to block in the buses, and moms are yelling and honking because they're too impatient and "important" to allow one car in before them! Picked Sarah up at 3:22. Time to head over to SMS, get into line and begin to wait. Kids start filling the parking lot, roaming wandering...waiting for parents. Thank goodness I gave Taylor a "game plan", pulled up at 3:30 he jumped in and off we went.
All the kids had a good day. Taylor is beginning to make friends. Has a group he hangs w/ at lunch. He's quickly figured out the routine, but says the bells for 8th and 7th can be a bit confusing. Erin is finding her niche too, misses Mrs. Mullins big time. And Sarah, Sarah is actually enjoying school and seems to love her teachers. So far, so good!!

They look so darn cute! School is a wonderful thing, even if transportation is not. Hang in there.

Wow, mini vans really are "Mom's Taxi". It doesn't help that it is 106 degrees out there. But doesn't Erin look stylin'? Four days down, 194 to go.
